Another great conference from the Australian Bookkeepers Network has just wrapped up. How to sum up the last 3 days?
We still don’t know what the collective noun is for a group of bookkeepers – but whatever its called we saw it
Xero now makes Xero calories chocolate – because its all about the feeds!
Day 1 fires up with Martin Grunstein’s keynote presentation ‘Outstanding Customer Service and The Future of Business’ told us to create empathy and preserve the ego of your customers – once that’s gone price doesn’t matter, it’s all about revenge
The ATO will phase out paper and lodgements
E-Myth Bookkeeper was officially launched by Debbie and Peter Cook from Pure Bookkeeping, what’s it all about? A great bookkeeping technician has an entrepreneurial seizure and now their boss is a lunatic
Day 1 ends with dinner under the stars thanks to Attache
Day 2 kicks off with Wayne Schmidt from Australian Bookkeepers Association, he spoke to us about the rise of the cloud integrator and that its time to improve
Melanie Power – Xero’s head of bookkeeping in Australia shared how she went from Zero to Hero in just 12 months (and she wore her custom Xero blue shoes on stage). Bookkeepers don’t have to sell – you only need to tell she explained. Seek out others, don’t go it alone Melanie advised.
Kerrie Jarius shared some tips for dealing with difficult clients
‘Data is the digital economy, what oil was to the industrial economy’ is Tracy Angwin from Australian Payroll Association’s favourite new saying
Australian Bookkeepers Network’s Darren Hagarty spoke about shaping your business and your mind with cloud technology and demonstrated it with live surveys
Next up breakout sessions:
Matt Paff demonstrated 6 business improvement tools from Attache
or
Debbie Roberts and Peter Cook’s Q&A session
then
Perfect payroll – the new offering for bookkeepers
or
Xero, the cloud, and your practice presented by Cecile Boulter
Drinks under the sea inside Shark Bay and then Xero’s dinner with a twist! to finish the night. Orange man is back! and BJ the seal is looking for a date
Day 3 opens with Wayne Schmidt and Australian Bookkeepers Association – the spin off of Australian Bookkeepers Network, giving bookkeepers a voice and a word in the ear of government and industry
Ben Kelly and Kerrie Jarius presented on the importance of engagement letters – see BKB #70
Social media (the Wayne Schmidt show) – ‘If you are not on social media you’re not part of the conversation’ lots of examples and live blogging on stage
Last speaker Greg Aleckson on complex to simple – how to thrive in a declining market
That’s a wrap!
Looking forward to the next conference in 2 years!
